Environment Authority: The Anniversary of the Brutal Iraqi Invasion is an Eternal National Milestone Embodying the Unity and Solidarity of Kuwaitis
The Public Authority for Environment has affirmed that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi aggression against the State of Kuwait will remain an eternal national milestone, during which Kuwait proudly recalls its steadfastness, in leadership, government, and people.
In a statement to KUNA on the occasion of the anniversary of the aggression, Acting Director General of the Authority, Nawaf Bahbahani, said that the sons of the nation wrote the most beautiful examples of cohesion and sacrifice in defense of its sovereignty and independence.
Bahbahani added that this anniversary embodies the values of unity, loyalty, and belonging, and reflects the determination and willpower that enabled Kuwait to overcome that ordeal and preserve its security and stability.
She noted that the Authority recalls the unprecedented damage inflicted on the Kuwaiti environment—land, sea, and air—and pointed out that the State of Kuwait has made significant and continuous efforts to rehabilitate the affected ecosystems.
She stated that the Kuwaiti environment was among the most severely affected sectors as a result of the brutal Iraqi aggression, as military operations and oil well fires had profound environmental impacts on all components of the terrestrial and marine environment.
She mentioned that the components of the Kuwaiti environment, including the marine environment, desert systems, and their soil, wildlife, landforms, and groundwater, constitute a national wealth and natural resource that must be protected and developed through sustainable environmental practices to ensure their preservation for future generations.
Bahbahani said that the Authority also commemorates with reverence the martyrs of Kuwait and their heroic deeds, praying to Almighty God to envelop them in His boundless mercy, and calling upon God to protect the State of Kuwait and perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and stability under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and the Crown Prince, so that Kuwait may remain proud, secure, and steadfast.
