Egypt and France: Necessity of resolving various disputes through peaceful means to preserve regional peace and stability

Cairo - Khadija Hamouda Egypt and France have agreed to continue consultations and political coordination between the two countries to enhance peace in the Middle East region. Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy said in a press statement that this came during a phone call between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

The statement noted that the call addressed developments in the regional situation and ways to achieve de-escalation and reduce current tensions, particularly the war with Iran, as well as the situations in Lebanon, Libya, and the occupied Palestinian territories. It emphasized the necessity of resolving various conflicts through peaceful means to preserve regional peace and stability.

The statement added that President el-Sisi expressed his country’s full solidarity with France following the wildfires that affected some French regions in recent days, conveying condolences to the French president on the victims of these incidents. He also expressed Egypt’s full confidence in France’s ability to overcome the wildfire crisis, reaffirming Egypt’s readiness to provide all possible support to the French side in dealing with it.

For his part, President Macron appreciated Egypt’s support for France during the current circumstances, stressing that it reflects the depth of the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed his aspiration to continue strengthening the existing strategic partnership and to sustain the growing momentum characterizing relations between the two friendly nations.

President Macron also inquired about developments regarding the incident involving two ships at the Port of Damietta recently, reaffirming France’s solidarity with Egypt, both government and people, during this time.
