Osama Diab: The Moroccan Ambassador to Kuwait, Ali Ibn Issa, affirmed that Morocco-Kuwait relations represent an advanced model of Arab partnership based on brotherhood, mutual respect, and close cooperation. He praised Kuwait’s firm and supportive stance toward the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, a position that reflects the depth of historical and fraternal ties between the leaderships of the two countries.
This statement was made during a speech delivered at the Moroccan Embassy’s celebration of the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne. The event was attended by Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq, Deputy Minister of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Mashal, Al-Jahra Governor Hamad Al-Habashi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Countries Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Adwani, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs Sheikh Jauhar Al-Sabah, along with a large number of ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, and members of the Moroccan community.
Ibn Issa stated that Kuwait is not merely a strategic partner for Morocco, but a “beloved country” bound to the Kingdom by enduring relations founded on solidarity and mutual respect. He expressed his appreciation for the sincere fraternal sentiments held by Kuwait’s leadership, government, and people toward Morocco.
He emphasized that Kuwait’s principled and unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity is highly valued in Rabat, rooted in the distinguished historical relationship between King Mohammed VI and his brother, His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad. He noted that the Kingdom continues to achieve successive diplomatic gains as international support expands for the Autonomy Initiative as the serious, realistic, and credible solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
The ambassador outlined the development trajectory witnessed by the Kingdom under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, noting that Morocco has become an attractive destination for economic, industrial, and logistical investments. This is due to its political and institutional stability, advanced infrastructure, investment-friendly legislation, and rapid growth in the automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, green economy, and digital economy sectors.
He added that preparations to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup finals with Spain and Portugal will provide significant investment opportunities in infrastructure, tourism, transport, services, and the sports economy.
On the economic front, Ibn Issa revealed that bilateral trade between Kuwait and Morocco reached approximately 943 million dirhams in 2024, with growth momentum continuing into 2025. Moroccan exports to Kuwait rose by 7.1% during the first half of the year.
He pointed out that Kuwait is the third-largest Arab investor in Morocco, with investments spanning strategic sectors including real estate, renewable energy, telecommunications, financial services, and tourism. He noted that the launch of the direct flight route between Kuwait and Casablanca has helped boost tourism, with Kuwaiti visitors to Morocco exceeding 38,000 in 2025.
He added that this year saw a surge in economic cooperation through the organization of two business forums in coordination with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with participation from Moroccan economic institutions, which helped open new horizons for partnership between the private sectors of both countries.
The Moroccan ambassador expressed his country’s hope that the next session of the Morocco-Kuwait High Joint Committee, scheduled to be held in the Kingdom in the coming months, will serve as an important milestone for updating the legal framework governing bilateral relations, signing new agreements and memoranda of understanding, and launching practical cooperation programs across various fields.
In conclusion, Ibn Issa renewed his gratitude to the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people, for their continuous support of the Kingdom of Morocco. He extended his best wishes for Kuwait’s enduring security, stability, and prosperity, and for further progress and growth in bilateral relations.
