And Allah establishes the truth by His words

We were young, naive students, occasionally reciting in our gatherings the pure patriotism of the great Kuwaiti poet Abdullah Sinan Muhammad Al-Sinan: “You have achieved victory, O Kuwait, O Arabs; Your free, noble people have risen high; Our flags fly proudly above the heads of shooting stars. We rejoice in what rejoices our Arab brothers, and we grieve in what grieves them. Our silent creed declares: ‘Ask the noble ones about us, for we are Arabs. Our motto is glory, which we love and they love.’ We did not know what fate held for us and for our beloved homeland. We grew up with that conviction. Then the Iraq-Iran War erupted, and we considered Iraq’s enemy to be our enemy, standing by its side heart and soul. We endured explosions, aircraft hijackings, and the attempt to assassinate the late Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on him, because of our Arab identity and our solidarity with our Muslim Arab neighbor. Days and nights passed, racing one another, while we remained steadfast in our stance, unwavering and unyielding. But as soon as that war ended, this same neighbor dealt us a treacherous blow from behind, betraying us, desecrating our land and skies, and biting the hand of honor that had extended to it. A barbaric, savage invasion desecrated Kuwait, its people, and all within it on the morning of August 2, 1990. Well said the poet: “Whoever performs a good deed for those who do not deserve it will meet the same fate as the one who sought refuge with Ammar or Aamir.” God Almighty rejected this invasion and, by His power, mobilized 32 countries to liberate Kuwait from the clutches of the despicable Iraqi Saddamist aggression. The noble Arabs rose to reject this invasion, led by former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, may God have mercy on him, who firmly said “no” to the Iraqi aggression from the very first moment. Kuwaitis set the finest examples of clinging to their land and legitimacy, captivating the entire world. Kuwait was liberated, by God’s will (and God establishes the truth with His words, even if the criminals dislike it). The land returned to its people, and God humiliated the sinful aggressor, revealing to us the wonders of His power, consigning him to the dustbin of history, while Kuwait remained towering and proud. Indeed, this is a painful anniversary, but it offers lessons and warnings for us and for the generations that will follow. Stay safe.
