We learned the lesson.. 8/2 will not be repeated

I was at a government agency in the Dajeej area at 10 a.m. when air-raid sirens sounded, warning of an attack by drones and missiles. A quarter of an hour after the sirens stopped, I left the agency and saw a commercial aircraft flying in the sky, a clear sign that normalcy had returned and the threat had passed. Praise be to God, this is a pattern evident across all aspects of life in Kuwait—professional, recreational, and social—and it reflects the public’s confidence in the state’s military capabilities, by God’s grace, to repel any brazen external aggression.

Praise and thanks be to God, we witnessed in the recent crisis the state’s prudent policy of equipping our armed forces with all necessary means of strength. The government spared no effort and did not stint in this regard, going beyond merely providing weapons and the latest systems to also training national cadres to operate these defensive systems. This is a source of pride, especially when we recognize that all brazen attacks were repelled solely by the sons of this nation, through their own national efforts.

The greatest cause of any country’s defeat is the instillation of panic and fear, and the undermining of stability among its citizens. Therefore, praise and thanks be to God, while writing these lines I was in one of Kuwait’s famous shopping malls, enjoying a cup of coffee, surrounded by thousands of shoppers—citizens and residents alike—without the slightest fear or anxiety. In this context, I can confidently say that we have defeated the enemy, and it has not achieved even its smallest objectives.

One final point: this current crisis, like others, will be temporary, by God’s will, and will pass. Kuwait’s enemies will meet the same fate as those who harmed and attacked Kuwait in the past. Moreover, Kuwait’s resilience today, despite all these brazen attacks, proves that we have learned the lesson, and that August 2 will not be repeated.
