Foreign Minister and Kenyan Vice President Discuss Strengthening Strategic Partnership and Coordination on Regional Issues

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, met with Kithure Kindiki, Vice President of the Republic of Kenya, on the sidelines of his participation in the second extraordinary summit of troop-contributing countries to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), held in Kampala.

Minister Abdelatty praised the notable growth in Egyptian-Kenyan relations, underpinned by the strategic partnership between the two countries, which was crowned by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s visit to Kenya in May 2026. He emphasized the commitment to building on the momentum driving bilateral relations, enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and expressed optimism about expanding collaboration with Kenya across various fields, particularly in irrigation, water resources management, infrastructure, ports, roads, bridges, transport, and special logistics, industrial, and economic zones. He also highlighted the need to encourage Egyptian companies to take advantage of promising investment opportunities in the Kenyan market, given their accumulated expertise in implementing development projects across the African continent, alongside convening the eighth session of the joint bilateral committee.

The meeting also discussed developments in the Horn of Africa and the African continent as a whole. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing work with international partners to mobilize adequate and sustainable financing for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia, as well as maintaining coordination and consultation between the two countries within the African Union and at regional and international forums, thereby enhancing peace, security, and stability, and supporting development and integration efforts on the African continent.
