Minister of Communications: Egypt is advancing rapidly to consolidate its position as a global hub for digital services exports

Cairo – Ahmed Sabri: Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raafat Hendy, affirmed that Egypt is advancing rapidly to consolidate its position as a global hub for exporting digital services. He noted that the ministry continues to invest in human capital development and the cultivation of specialized technological skills, which has contributed to building a broad base of competencies capable of meeting the demands of global markets.

This statement came during a meeting between the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Asif Peer, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Systems Limited, a global group specializing in information technology services and consulting. The meeting focused on the company’s plans to expand in the Egyptian market and transform its center in Egypt into one of its largest globally, thereby boosting its exports of digital services to regional and international markets.

The meeting reviewed the company’s plans to expand its operations within Egypt, including its new headquarters in the Smart Village, which the company recently opened. The facility currently houses approximately 250 specialized engineers in software development, information technology services, and outsourcing. The company also intends to increase its workforce at the center, creating more than 380 new job opportunities in the near future.

Hendy highlighted that the continuous expansion of global companies in the Egyptian market reflects the success of these efforts. He clarified that Egypt’s competitive advantage in the outsourcing industry is no longer limited to the availability of human resources, but extends to its ability to deliver high-value digital services in software development, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. This enhances global companies’ confidence in expanding their operations from Egypt and increasing their digital exports.

During the meeting, Systems Limited officials presented the services offered by its Egyptian center, which include software development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, system integration, and outsourcing services. These services support the company’s clients in Arab countries and several global markets across diverse sectors, including banking, telecommunications, and financial technology.

For his part, Asif Peer, CEO and Managing Director of Systems Limited, outlined the company’s global strategy and future plans, praising Egypt’s foundational strengths in the outsourcing sector, which have made it an attractive destination for global investments. Peer emphasized that these strengths served as a catalyst for the group’s expansion in the Egyptian market, supporting its plan to transform its Egyptian center into its second-largest globally, after its headquarters in Pakistan. He noted that approximately 85% of the company’s business is export-oriented and that the company continues to develop its flexible business model to keep pace with technological developments and meet the needs of its clients worldwide.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the company, particularly through the “Employment Readiness” program implemented by ITIDA to meet the needs of companies operating in the outsourcing sector and support their expansion plans. This involves preparing qualified Egyptian cadres with the required technological and linguistic skills, thereby strengthening Egypt’s position as a leading global destination for business process and information technology outsourcing services.

Attending the meeting were Eng. Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA; Khurram Majid, General Manager of Systems Limited for the Middle East and Africa region; Ahmed Qandil, Manager of Systems Egypt; and Eng. Mahmoud Safarata, Deputy CEO of ITIDA.

Systems Limited is one of the largest information technology companies in Pakistan, with a global presence in more than 15 countries and a workforce of over 10,000 specialists in technology and digital transformation.
