Syrian Ministry of Interior Announces Foiling of Attempt to Traffick 100 kg of Hashish and 100,000 Captagon Pills in Latakia

The Ministry of Interior announced that the Drug Control Administration thwarted an attempt to distribute a shipment of narcotics following precise security operations of surveillance and follow-up in the Latakia Governorate. The Administration confirmed on its Telegram channel that the security operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of 100 kilograms of hashish, 100,000 Captagon pills, and 5,000 pharmaceutical pills. According to the same source, all seized items were confiscated, while investigations continue with the detainees to uncover their partners and other accomplices, paving the way for their referral to the competent judiciary to take the necessary legal measures against them.

The Drug Control Administration also announced that its units, in cooperation with the Internal Security Command in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate, carried out a landmark security operation on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of six individuals involved in the trafficking, transport, and distribution of narcotics.

Additionally, the Administration, in coordination with Special Forces units, arrested two drug traffickers last Wednesday following a well-planned ambush and pursuit in the Afrin area of the Aleppo Governorate. The operation led to the confiscation of 186,000 narcotic pills, packed in 186 bags, with a total weight of 32.320 kilograms, according to the Drug Control Administration’s official accounts.
