Kuwait: Ireland’s ban on importing Israeli settlement products is an important step in line with international legitimacy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s welcome for the adoption by the friendly Republic of Ireland of a law prohibiting the import of Israeli settlement products, describing it as an important step that aligns with relevant international legal resolutions, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016 and the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice issued on July 19, 2024, regarding the illegality of settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Ministry commended Ireland’s position, which is consistent with the provisions of international law, and emphasized the necessity for the international community and the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities in confronting the Israeli occupation’s settlement policy, which undermines the prospects for achieving peace.

The Ministry reaffirmed the State of Kuwait’s firm and supportive stance toward the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is their right to establish their independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
