Advance warning of traffic signals at 40 intersections... and full rollout to be completed soon

Kuwait officials: The Ministry of Interior has launched a new traffic signal system that provides advance warnings to drivers before they reach intersections. So far, the system has been implemented at 40 intersections, with plans to gradually expand it to cover all intersections across the country’s various governorates, as part of efforts to enhance road safety and leverage smart technologies.

The source explained that the system aims to raise traffic awareness and reduce accidents caused by sudden stops or running red lights. He confirmed that work is proceeding according to a phased plan to complete coverage of all intersections with smart signals, aligning with the latest global traffic systems.

He added that the advance warning gives drivers sufficient time to adjust their speed and make appropriate decisions before reaching an intersection, thereby improving traffic flow, reducing sudden braking and rear-end collisions, and contributing to a safer road environment for all users.

The source noted that since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Interior has been investing in modern technologies and smart systems as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at developing the road network, enhancing traffic management efficiency, and achieving the highest safety standards, in line with the state’s vision of building a modern and secure transportation system.

The Ministry urged drivers, coinciding with the implementation of technology and artificial intelligence systems in traffic management, to adhere to prescribed speed limits, pay attention to traffic signs and signals, and avoid attempting to cross intersections when the light is about to change. It emphasized that compliance with traffic rules is the fundamental pillar for preserving lives and property, and that road safety is a shared responsibility between relevant authorities and all road users.
