"An Unfading Memory": Art Narrates the Story of a Nation

Mufreh Al-Shamri The Kuwait Artists and Media Professionals Union is hosting the National Art Exhibition “An Unfading Memory” at its headquarters in the Shargh district next Sunday, in an initiative that evokes the resilience of Kuwaitis and documents bright pages of the nation’s history, coinciding with the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion. The Union has issued a public invitation via its social media accounts to the general public and artists to attend the exhibition and participate in this national occasion, where art celebrates the nation’s memory. The exhibition brings together a select group of Kuwaiti artists from various artistic disciplines, presenting works inspired by acts of heroism and steadfastness, and immortalizing the sacrifices of martyrs, prisoners of war, and resistance fighters, who wrote some of the most magnificent examples of defending Kuwait during one of the most pivotal historical moments that remains vivid in the consciousness of its people. The Union has opened participation to artists in painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, metalwork, as well as artworks executed on wood, a move that reflects the richness of Kuwait’s visual arts scene and provides artists with a space to express their national vision through diverse creative approaches. The Union emphasized that “An Unfading Memory” transcends being merely an art exhibition, forming a cultural and human space that preserves the features of a critical phase in Kuwait’s history, and affirms that art remains one of the most important bridges conveying stories of resilience and belonging to future generations, keeping the nation’s memory alive in hearts.
