Ahmed Maghrabi Gold has maintained its status among Kuwaitis and residents as both “jewelry and treasury,” as the yellow metal continued to attract buyers, whether for acquiring jewelry or investing in gold bars and coins, amid growing interest in gold as a safe haven for preserving value. Data from the World Gold Council, reviewed by Al-Anbaa, showed that total purchases of gold by Kuwaitis and residents, including jewelry, bars, and coins, reached approximately 8.2 tons in the first half of 2026, compared to 8.4 tons during the same period in 2025, representing an annual decline of 2.38%. According to the data, purchases of jewelry and gold ornaments in the Kuwaiti market during the first half of 2026 amounted to about 4 tons, distributed as 2.2 tons in the second quarter and 1.8 tons in the first quarter, compared to 5.1 tons in the first half of 2025, distributed as 2.7 tons in the second quarter and 2.4 tons in the first quarter, representing an annual decrease of 21.57%. Conversely, purchases of gold bars and coins rose to 4.2 tons in the first half of 2026, compared to 3.3 tons in the corresponding period of 2025, achieving an annual growth of 27.27%, reflecting the trend of an increasing segment of buyers toward gold as a savings and investment tool, alongside global prices remaining at historically high levels. The data showed that Kuwait’s purchases of gold bars and coins were distributed during the first half of the current year as 2.4 tons in the second quarter and 1.8 tons in the first quarter, compared to 1.9 tons in the second quarter of 2025 and 1.4 tons in the first quarter of the same year.
