Health Ministry: Final closure of one clinic and revocation of license for a non-compliant private health facility

In line with the Ministry of Health’s commitment to strengthening oversight of the private healthcare sector, reinforcing principles of professional accountability, and protecting patients’ rights, and pursuant to directives from Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, legal and technical procedures have been completed regarding a number of complaints and reports concerning practitioners and healthcare facilities in the private sector. These procedures confirmed professional violations and medical errors in several cases, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 70 of 2020 concerning the practice of medicine and its auxiliary professions, patients’ rights, and healthcare facilities.

The measures targeted seven healthcare practitioners, including a consultant physician, medical directors, owners of healthcare facility licenses, and heads of medical departments. They also affected several private hospitals, clinics, and medical centers. The sanctions included financial penalties totaling 5,700 Kuwaiti dinars, the permanent closure of one clinic, and the revocation of the license of a non-compliant private healthcare facility.

Additionally, the measures included the reopening of one private medical center, while the dental department of another private medical center remains closed until it meets the workforce requirements stipulated in Ministerial Decision No. 36 of 2024 concerning the conditions and specifications for licensing private human medical centers, and complies with quality standards and infection control requirements specific to dental departments.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its continued supervision and inspection of private healthcare facilities, and its commitment to taking legal action against identified violations and referring them to the competent authorities to complete technical and legal procedures. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of healthcare services, safeguard patients’ rights, and reinforce the principles of professional accountability.
