Egyptian and Algerian Presidents: We Reject Any Violation of the Security and Sovereignty of Arab States

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed on Wednesday their rejection of any infringement on the security and sovereignty of fraternal Arab states, while expressing their support for efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Iranian crisis.

Mohamed El-Shenawy, spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, stated in a press release that this position emerged during a telephone conversation between the two presidents, in which they discussed bilateral relations between Egypt and Algeria, as well as regional issues of mutual concern.

The statement noted that the call saw agreement on the priority of intensifying international and regional efforts to prevent a return to full-scale escalation, and on enhancing coordination and consultation between Egypt and Algeria on various regional issues amid current challenges.

It added that President el-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Algeria, both in leadership and among its people, in the face of fires that have affected areas of its territory, emphasizing Egypt’s readiness to provide any support to the Algerian people in confronting this situation.

He underscored the depth of the historical relations between the two countries and their peoples, praising the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation tracks in recent times.

President el-Sisi stressed the importance of building on this momentum and implementing the understandings and agreements reached by both sides, particularly the decisions of the Supreme Joint Committee held in Cairo in November 2025.

The statement pointed out that President Tebboune, for his part, outlined the intensive efforts undertaken by Algerian authorities to deal with the repercussions of the fires and to safeguard citizens and their property.

President Tebboune also addressed the steady growth in Algerian-Egyptian relations, highlighting the significant prospects for developing cooperation in various fields, leveraging the substantial capacities and human resources of both countries.
