"Bahrain Shield" – Gulf Military Cooperation and a Solid Pillar in Facing Any Aggression

Bahraini Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Diab Al-Nuaimi, affirmed that the participation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states’ armed forces in the joint exercise “Bahrain Shield” embodies the facets of a robust joint Gulf military capability to confront various challenges. This statement came during Lt. Gen. Al-Nuaimi’s inspection of the joint exercise, which is being conducted by the Bahrain Defence Force in collaboration with the armed forces of the sister GCC member states.

He highlighted the Bahrain Defence Force’s commitment to conducting joint exercises to enhance combat performance levels, thereby contributing to gaining further field experience, improving operational planning capabilities, and fostering an environment conducive to exchanging expertise and harmonizing concepts among participating forces, alongside strengthening frameworks for joint military cooperation and coordination.

Al-Nuaimi noted that the “Bahrain Shield” exercise represents a practical consolidation of the established approach to reinforcing the pillars of joint military construction among the GCC member states’ armed forces, under the great attention and gracious patronage of the GCC leaders, and as a reaffirmation of the fraternal bonds uniting them in pursuit of goodness, strength, and resilience.

He pointed out that the significance of this exercise lies in its role as a solid strategic foundation for military solidarity and a firm pillar for standing united against any treacherous aggression, and for achieving decisive deterrence against anyone targeting the security of the Gulf Arab states or threatening the safety of their citizens and national interests, in flagrant violation of all international covenants, treaties, and laws.

He added that the treacherous attacks witnessed in the region dictate the need to develop joint defensive military cooperation based on close ties and deep historical fraternal bonds, expressing his confidence that this exercise represents “a solid building block in strengthening our ranks and building joint Gulf work characterized by high readiness and rapid response to take all collective measures and fulfill shared defensive responsibilities to preserve the security and stability of the GCC member states and repel any threats to their sovereignty and stability.”
