2,924 retirees retired during the first three months of 2026

Official data revealed that the number of retirees in Kuwait increased by approximately 2,924 retirees during the first three months of the current year. According to the latest data issued by the Public Institution for Social Insurance, the number of living pensioners rose to 217,668 by the end of March 2026, compared to 214,744 by the end of December 2025.

The number of civilian retirees in the government sector reached 145,175 by the end of March 2026, up from 143,204 by the end of December 2025. The number of retirees from the oil sector increased during the first three months of 2026 to reach 9,382 by the end of March 2026, compared to 9,331 by the end of December 2025. Additionally, the number of retirees in the private sector rose to 14,023 by the end of March 2026, compared to 13,781 by the end of December 2025.

Regarding insured persons, the data showed that the number of individuals insured with the Public Institution for Social Insurance decreased by approximately 2,711 by the end of March 2026, reaching 411,108, compared to 413,819 by the end of December 2025. The number of insured civilians employed by an employer declined during the first three months of the current year, reaching approximately 391,250 by the end of March 2026, compared to 394,250 by the end of December 2025.

The number of civilians employed by an employer in the government sector stood at 322,583 by the end of March 2026, compared to 324,959 by the end of December 2025. In the oil sector, this number was 21,568 by the end of March 2026, compared to 21,775 by the end of December 2025, while in the private sector, it was 47,099 by the end of March 2026, compared to 47,516 by the end of December 2025.

The number of self-employed civilians insured with the Public Institution for Social Insurance increased by 289, reaching 19,858 by the end of March 2026, compared to 19,569 by the end of December 2025. In the same context, the number of beneficiaries receiving pensions increased by 53 during the first three months of the current year, reaching 101,173 by the end of March, compared to 101,120 by the end of December 2025.

The final tally showed a net increase in the total number of persons subject to social insurance by 266, bringing their total to 729,949 by the end of March 2026, compared to 729,683 by the end of December 2025.
