The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development announced that Waha Bank has contributed $3 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, launched on July 5, with the aim of strengthening national preparedness and enhancing Kuwait’s capacity to respond promptly to exceptional circumstances. The Fund clarified that this contribution reflects Waha Bank’s commitment to supporting national efforts and strengthening partnerships with government entities to serve the public interest and raise readiness levels to face various challenges. It further emphasized that the bank’s contribution underscores the vital and responsible role of the Kuwaiti banking sector in supporting government bodies, providing the necessary resources for rapid crisis response, and reinforcing values of solidarity and social cohesion. Waha Bank is one of the prominent banks in Kuwait’s Islamic banking sector. Established in 2010, it aims to provide banking and investment services compliant with Islamic Sharia principles, offering integrated banking solutions for individuals, corporations, investment, and treasury operations, with a focus on innovation and digital transformation. The bank operates a network of 22 branches covering various governorates in Kuwait, alongside a wide network of ATMs and digital banking services. The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was established at the initiative of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, following approval by the Council of Ministers, with the Fund tasked with its management and full oversight, aiming to enhance institutional resilience, improve national response efficiency, and enable relevant authorities to address emergency challenges effectively and efficiently.
