Hamad bin Khalifa elected President of the Qatari Federation

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa as president and Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed as vice president. The Qatar News Agency (QNA) quoted the QFA in a statement saying that the appointment decision was approved by the association’s executive board during its meeting yesterday, adding that it comes as part of completing the current term of the board of directors until 2027, with the decision to be ratified at the QFA’s general assembly, which will be held next September.

The QFA executive board had previously decided, in an earlier meeting, to nominate two candidates to fill the positions of president and vice president following the resignations of QFA president Jassem Al-Awaini and vice president Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, in accordance with established procedures and regulations.

The executive board meeting also discussed the association’s activities and the latest developments, as well as a report on the participation of the Qatar national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
