Al-Salmiya Bolsters Defense with Congolese Chepiwawa

Al-Salmiya Club’s board of directors has bolstered the first-team defense by signing Congolese defender Trezor Chipewa Bwa (28), who joins from South African club Sekhukhune United, in preparation for the Premier League campaign kicking off on August 25 next year. The “Sky Blues” are scheduled to depart for Turkey within the next two days to join a training camp in the Turkish city of Izmit, which will run until August 15, following the start of their first training phase on the 20th.

Meanwhile, amid the decisive rounds of the Zain League First Division, Khaitan Club continues its activity in the summer transfer market. The board has signed winger Christian and defender Nasser Salem to strengthen the first team. Sitting fifth with 17 points, the “Red and Blacks” are out of contention for the top two spots that secure promotion to the Premier League, currently held by Al-Sahel (32 points) and Al-Yarmouk (29 points) respectively, after the conclusion of the 14th round. Khaitan’s signings of Christian and Salem follow several other deals concluded by the club in recent days, involving more than 10 local and foreign players across various positions, including Abdullah Mawi and Senegalese striker Ibrahima Gaye.

Khaitan’s new Turkish coach, Genik Ozkan, is experiencing a relatively difficult period, as he has not had sufficient time to prepare the team optimally. This is due to his relatively late appointment with the “Red and Blacks,” the resumption of last season’s First Division matches on the 25th, the short timeframe, and the intense match schedule. He faces six crucial rounds between August 2 and 20 next year, regardless of the outcome of yesterday’s late-night match between Khaitan and Al-Sahel.
