Widespread condemnation of repeated terrorist attempts to attack Saudi oil facilities and target Jordan
Arab states and organizations condemned attempts by Iran-backed militias in Iraq to attack Saudi oil facilities using drones, as well as Iran’s resumption of missile launches targeting Jordan.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strongest condemnation of the continued drone attacks by Iran-backed militias in Iraq, which targeted petrochemical facilities in the Eastern Province. In a statement, the ministry clarified that the Kingdom reaffirms its resolve to safeguard its security and sovereignty, and its legitimate legal right to take all necessary measures to respond to sources of aggression and deter aggressors. It also reiterated the necessity for the Iraqi government to take all required steps to ensure its territory is not used as a launching pad for aggression.
For his part, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi expressed his strongest condemnation and disapproval of the continued terrorist attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Iran-backed militias in Iraq. He emphasized that these hostile acts represent a serious escalation, a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, and a direct threat to its security and stability, as well as to regional security and peace.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong condemnation and disapproval of the repeated, despicable terrorist attempts to target petrochemical facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. It deemed these actions a serious escalation threatening regional security and stability, a blatant violation of the principles of good neighborliness and international law, and a blatant defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, undermining efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
Bahrain affirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its absolute support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, including its right to respond to sources of aggression and deter aggressors, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, international law, and the GCC Joint Defense Agreement. It further affirmed Bahrain’s standing by Saudi Arabia in any response it deems necessary, stressing that the security and stability of the Kingdom are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security and the collective security of the GCC states.
It emphasized the GCC’s position calling for the swift implementation of the Iraqi government’s decision to monopolize weapons in the hands of the state, stressing the importance of taking all necessary measures to prevent armed militias from using Iraqi territory as a launching pad for attacks on regional states. It also stressed the necessity for Iran to cease supporting these militias and to immediately and completely halt its hostile approach.
Qatar also strongly condemned the attacks attempting to target petrochemical facilities in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using drones launched from Iraqi territory. In a statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs described these acts as a “blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty, a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a flagrant breach of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness.”
The ministry affirmed Qatar’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all legitimate measures taken to preserve its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
Egypt strongly condemned the attacks attempting to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and those targeting Jordan, deeming them unacceptable assaults on the sovereignty of states, civilian and vital facilities, a blatant violation of international law, and a serious escalation threatening the security and stability of the region and undermining global energy security.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with both Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and its complete support for all measures they take to preserve their security and stability and protect their sovereignty and vital facilities. It reiterated its firm rejection of all attacks targeting civilian facilities and vital infrastructure, or those affecting the security and sovereignty of Arab states.
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in a statement, expressed that confronting the military activities of militias in Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen is “a shared and continuous struggle to enable these states to assert their authority and sovereignty over their entire territories through their own legitimate forces alone.”
In another statement, Lebanon reiterated its strong condemnation of the Iranian ballistic missile launches directed at Jordanian territory, “as confirmed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps,” emphasizing that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and a threat to regional security and stability.
