Petroleum: Handling fire on two ships at Damietta Port according to emergency plans... No injuries

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum announced that a fire broke out on the gasification and storage vessels at the Port of Damietta, and that the situation was managed in accordance with approved emergency plans. The ministry stressed that the incident involving the two vessels at the Port of Damietta resulted in no injuries or human casualties, emphasizing that necessary measures have been taken to assess the repercussions of the situation.

In its statement, the ministry confirmed that “as part of immediate monitoring of any emergency events, a fire occurred on the gasification vessel and the storage vessel located at the Port of Damietta. The situation was addressed immediately in accordance with approved emergency and rapid response plans, through the competent authorities and the site’s firefighting and security teams.”

The statement added that, upon receiving the report, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi proceeded to the incident site to monitor the situation on the ground, ensure the progress of containment and security operations, and verify the implementation of all safety procedures and full coordination among the various concerned entities until the situation was safely resolved.

He further noted that the ministry reaffirmed that the incident caused no injuries or human casualties, and that emergency teams continued to work with the relevant technical authorities to complete operations and take necessary measures in accordance with approved standards. Necessary steps are underway to assess the repercussions of the incident.
