Minister of Development and Sustainability: "Sustainable Governorate" as a Model for Integrated Work and Enhancing Quality of Life
State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, confirmed on Wednesday that the “Sustainable Governorate” system represents a model of integrated, indicator-based work focused on impact measurement, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development and the enhancement of quality of life.
This statement was made during a meeting held by Al-Faleh at the headquarters of the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs with the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Adib Nasser Al-Adib Al-Sabah; the Governor of the Capital, Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah; the Governor of Ahmadi, Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; the Acting Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabir and Hawalli, Sheikh Sabah Bader Al-Salim Al-Sabah; and representatives of relevant government entities, to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the system and strengthening coordination among concerned parties.
Al-Faleh told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the “Sustainable Governorate” system aims to develop an integrated framework for measuring the level of sustainability in the governorates of the State of Kuwait, through the preparation of periodic sustainability reports based on clear indicators to measure developmental, environmental, social, and service performance.
She clarified that these sustainability reports will help monitor the reality of each governorate, identify its needs and priorities, and pinpoint gaps and opportunities for improvement, thereby supporting data-driven decision-making and enhancing the efficiency of implementing projects and initiatives.
She noted that the next phase will focus on standardizing the methodology for sustainability indicators, while taking into account the specific characteristics of each governorate. She called for appointing sustainability ambassadors in each governorate, training and qualifying them to enhance community participation and promote positive environmental practices across all governorates.
Al-Faleh emphasized that the governors are key partners in the success of the system, given their pivotal role in determining governorate priorities and monitoring their needs, expressing her appreciation for the cooperation of the governors and government entities in this regard.
