Kuwait strongly condemns and denounces the continued attacks by Iran-backed militias on Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued attacks by Iran-backed militias in Iraq against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which reflect those militias’ determination to escalate tensions and destabilize the security and stability of the region. The latest such incident was the blatant aggression involving the launch of drones in an unsuccessful attempt to target petroleum facilities in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia yesterday evening, constituting a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and territorial integrity. This comes at a time when the Kingdom is making sincere efforts to contribute to de-escalation in the region.

In a statement issued today, Wednesday, the Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support for all measures undertaken by the Kingdom to protect its security, sovereignty, interests, and assets, including its inherent right to self-defense guaranteed under international law pursuant to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. It emphasized that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
