Saudi Defense: We carried out targeted strikes in coordination with U.S. Central Command against militias on Iraqi territory linked to attacks on petroleum facilities in the Kingdom

The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that it carried out precise strikes against militias located on Iraqi territory in response to attempts to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh, in coordination with U.S. forces.

Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, as saying: “In continuation of the statements issued by the Ministry of Defense on Monday (13 Safar 1448 AH) and Tuesday (14 Safar 1448 AH), corresponding to July 27–28, 2026, which confirmed that air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh, and that these terrorist attacks originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-aligned terrorist militias, and reaffirming the Kingdom’s inherent right to self-defense and protection of its assets, as well as its right to respond at the time and place of its choosing, in accordance with the divine verse: ‘Whoever attacks you, attack him in like manner,’ and in line with the right to self-defense guaranteed by international law under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Saudi Armed Forces, in coordination with U.S. Central Command, carried out precise strikes today, Wednesday (15 Safar 1448 AH), corresponding to July 29, 2026, against targets belonging to those militias located on the territory of the Republic of Iraq and linked to the attacks on oil facilities in the Kingdom.”

He added, “The Kingdom emphasizes that it does not seek escalation, but it will respond to any aggression it faces.”
