Proactive Gulf coordination thwarts smuggling of "raw liquid shabu" into the country prior to its processing

Abdullah Qunaiss: The Ministry of Interior stated that joint security cooperation among the drug control agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries enabled the General Directorate of Drug Control at the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with its counterparts in the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to thwart an attempt to smuggle a quantity of raw liquid methamphetamine intended for manufacturing and distribution within the country. The ministry noted that this targeted security operation followed the exchange of precise intelligence and intensive field surveillance, which led to the arrest of a repeat offender with a criminal record in drug trafficking cases. He was found in possession of approximately 5 liters of raw liquid methamphetamine, an amount sufficient to produce around 15 kilograms of ready-to-distribute methamphetamine. The ministry confirmed that the suspect and the seized materials were referred to the competent authorities to take all necessary legal measures against him, emphasizing that this operation reflects the effectiveness of GCC security cooperation in confronting the scourge of drugs, and the success of proactive efforts in monitoring and tracking drug sources and thwarting attempts to manufacture and distribute them, thereby contributing to the protection of society and the preservation of its security and safety.
