Ministry of Labour in an awareness post: 30 days of paid leave

Kuwait officials: The General Authority for Manpower has highlighted the provisions governing annual leave as stipulated in Articles 70, 71, and 72 of the Labor Law, coinciding with the departure of large numbers of workers and employees to their home countries to spend their annual leave. In an awareness post, the Authority clarified that Article 70 of the Labor Law grants workers the right to 30 days of paid annual leave, with the entitlement for the first year accruing only after completing at least six months of service with the employer. It also noted that Article 71 empowers employers to schedule leave in a manner consistent with the interests of the business, allowing for the splitting of leave with the worker’s consent, in accordance with the law’s provisions. Furthermore, the Authority added that Article 72 includes an important warning mandating that annual leave pay be paid to the worker before they commence their leave, in compliance with the Labor Law.
