"Shabab Al-Salla" concludes its Gulf participation with a match against Saudi Arabia

Kuwait officials: The national youth basketball team (under-18) concluded its participation in the Gulf Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the Asian Cup finals, with a match against Saudi Arabia at 5:00 p.m. today at the Al-Gharafa Club hall in Qatar. In a second matchup, the Omani national team will visit Qatar at 7:00 p.m. at the same venue.

“Shabab Al-Salla” (Youth Basketball) hopes to secure their first victory in the tournament after losing their previous three matches against Oman (59-62), Bahrain (51-106), and Qatar (53-81). Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s “Al-Akhdar” (The Green) seeks a win to revive their chances of competing for second place, which qualifies for the Youth Asian Cup, after suffering two losses on the opening day of the tournament against Bahrain (54-62) and Qatar (76-80). Their final match tomorrow will be against Oman, concluding the competition. This last round will also feature a clash for first and second place between host Qatar and Arab champions Bahrain.

The technical staff of “Shabab Al-Salla,” led by Serbian coach Marko Icelic and his assistant Yahya Al-Bahr, aim to deliver a better performance than before and surpass the 50-point barrier, relying on brothers Adam and Amir Asadullah, Ahmed Al-Rashid, Omar Murad, Ali Al-Hindal, Yousif Al-Ghanim, Abdullah Al-Jarid, along with Faraj Al-Faraj, Omar Al-Saleh, Ali Al-Salahi, Musaed Al-Obeidi, and Abdulrahman Tariq.

The tournament, featuring five national teams, is played in a single round-robin format, with the top two teams qualifying for the Youth Asian Cup finals.
