Ministry of Health Organizes Procedures for Terminating Services of Medical Staff, Including Physicians and Dentists

AbdulKarim Al-Abdullah: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Sheikh Dr. Salman Al-Sabah, issued an administrative decision adopting a unified form to verify whether administrative or technical investigations are currently underway against medical personnel, including physicians and dentists, who wish to resign from their positions within the Ministry.

This decision comes as part of efforts to regulate the procedures for terminating the services of medical staff, enhancing administrative governance, and ensuring that all legal and regulatory requirements are fulfilled before approving resignation requests, thereby safeguarding the rights of all parties and improving the efficiency of administrative procedures.

The decision stipulates the adoption of an official form through which practitioners’ data will be collected and their employment status verified by the relevant authorities, including the hospital or administration they are affiliated with, the Medical Liability Authority, and the Legal Affairs and Investigations Department. This is to ensure that no administrative or technical investigations are pending before completing the resignation procedures. The decision emphasized that the form will take effect from the date of its issuance, and any previous decisions or directives conflicting with its provisions are hereby repealed. The relevant authorities are tasked with implementing the decision within their respective jurisdictions.

The decision is based on the provisions of the Civil Service Law and System, and Law No. 70 of 2020 concerning the practice of medicine and its auxiliary professions, patients’ rights, and health facilities, reflecting the Ministry of Health’s commitment to developing administrative procedures, enhancing work efficiency, and regulating the mechanism for terminating the services of medical personnel in accordance with approved legal frameworks.
