Dozens of Syrians 'disappeared' in Israeli prisons

Syrian media reported that Israeli occupation forces arbitrarily arrested dozens of Syrians as part of their ongoing violations, incursions into southern Syria, and breaches of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. Al-Akhbariya TV stated that these incursions resulted in the arrest of dozens of citizens from the Quneitra, Daraa, and Beit Jinn governorates near Damascus, with the number of documented detainees reaching 52 so far.

Families of the detainees in Israeli prisons continue their strenuous efforts to ascertain the fate of their relatives, who remain forcibly disappeared without any timeline for their release. Israeli occupation forces arrested a young man from the village of Tarinjah in the Quneitra countryside during an incursion that included searching several homes yesterday. Later, they released a young man they had arrested the day before at a checkpoint they established in the town of Al-Samdanah al-Gharbiyah.

In the Daraa countryside, Israeli forces incursed into the villages of Ma’ariyah and Al-Aridah in the Yarmouk Basin area and reopened roads that residents had blocked with stones, accompanied by gunfire and intensive flights by reconnaissance drones. Israeli forces targeted an electrical transformer in the center of Ma’ariyah village, causing it to go out of service and cutting off electricity to most residents’ homes, before the General Company for Electricity in Daraa Governorate replaced it yesterday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemns the continuous Israeli aggressions, consisting of incursions into Syrian territory, and calls on the United Nations and the international community to consistently assume their responsibilities and take necessary measures to halt these repeated violations and ensure respect for the Disengagement Agreement.
