Al-Ajiri Al-Ilmi: Wednesday marks the start of the 'Marmoom' season and peak summer heat

The Al-Ajeri Scientific Center announced that Kuwait will welcome the “Marzam” season tomorrow, Wednesday. Marzam is the penultimate season of summer, lasting 13 days until August 10, 2026. It is characterized by sustained high temperatures and intensified ground heat, a phenomenon known as “Jamarat al-Qayz,” indicating the peak of summer heat.

The center explained that the Marzam season represents a new phase of summer, followed by the “Kaleebin” season, which typically sees rising humidity levels in Kuwait, before the arrival of the “Suhail” season, which signals the beginning of a decline in the intensity of the heat.

It added that Thursday, July 30, 2026, also marks the beginning of the palm fruit harvest season for dates. The name of the season derives from the star “Al-Murzam,” astronomically known as Canopus (Al-Shira al-Yamaniyah), which is the brightest star in the sky and distinguished by its intense brilliance.
