The Youth National Team departs for the Cairo camp today

The Kuwait national under-17 volleyball team delegation is set to depart for Cairo today for a 10-day training camp in preparation for the second Arab Championship, scheduled to be held in Bahrain from August 7 to 17 next year.

The delegation is headed by Nayef Al-Filakawi, a member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Volleyball Federation. It is accompanied by team administrator Abdullah Al-Rais, and the technical staff led by Tunisian coach Mohamed Ali Ben Cheikh, assistant coach Mohamed Al-Maimouni, and physiotherapist Mohammed Al-Yamam.

The squad includes players Fahd Ghaith, Youssef Al-Dokhi, Khaled Al-Masoud, Ahmed Al-Sand, Mohammed Khaled, Mohammed Al-Zoubi, Saud Al-Duwisan, Ahmed Dashti, Saleh Al-Anzi, Hamad Abdulrahman, Salman Al-Mutairi, Mohammed Al-Kandari, Khaled Al-Hajjar, and Abdul Latif Khaled Al-Bahou.

For his part, Mohamed Ben Cheikh confirmed that the Blue Team began its training in mid-June on a gradual basis, according to an intensive training program aimed at readapting the players. The initial roster comprised 20 players, who were gradually whittled down until reaching the final 14-player squad for the camp and the championship.

He stated that the national team features promising talents and standout players, noting a noticeable improvement in overall technical performance despite the short preparation period. He emphasized that the primary objective is to build a strong team for the future through continuous work with this group of players over three consecutive seasons.

Ben Cheikh added that the team will play four strong friendly matches during the Cairo camp, aimed at practical application and enhancing team cohesion, ensuring the squad is ready for the Arab Championship.
