Qatar and Saudi Arabia discuss latest developments in Lebanon

Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Khalifa, held a telephone conversation with Prince Yazeed bin Mohammed, advisor to the Saudi Foreign Minister for Lebanese affairs, to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Sunday that both sides expressed their satisfaction with the steps being taken by the Lebanese government to strengthen its institutions and extend its authority over the entirety of its territory. According to the statement, the two sides discussed ways to support the Lebanese government’s efforts to address the challenges facing Lebanese displaced persons, including creating appropriate conditions for their return to their areas of origin. In a separate telephone call, Al-Khalifa spoke with Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Mitri on the efforts being made by the Lebanese government to address the challenges facing the Lebanese state, particularly the return of displaced persons to their areas. Al-Khalifa reaffirmed, according to a separate statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar’s support for efforts aimed at strengthening Lebanese state institutions and consolidating security and stability in the country.
