Emir of Qatar and UK Prime Minister: Importance of Continuing Dialogue and Diplomatic Means to Address Regional Issues

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, held discussions with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham on developments in the regional situation. The Qatari Diwan Al Amiri stated in a statement on Sunday that this came during a phone call received by the Emir of Qatar from the British Prime Minister, during which he expressed his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy over the passing of the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him.

On his part, the Emir of Qatar expressed his gratitude and appreciation for these sincere sentiments, and conveyed his congratulations to Burnham on assuming the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, wishing him success and prosperity, and hoping for further development and growth of bilateral relations.

During the call, the strategic cooperation relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, along with ways to support and develop them in various fields. The Emir of Qatar praised the strength of these historical relations, which serve common interests and enhance the existing partnership.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the regional situation, particularly recent developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and consolidating security in the Middle East region.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and diplomatic means to address regional issues and support international efforts aimed at consolidating peace, thereby contributing to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and safeguarding the security of the region and the world.
