"Sawari with Al-Amari" Launches "My Summer 18"

The 18th edition of the “Summer Cultural” festival kicks off on August 5, organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, continuing its trajectory as one of Kuwait’s most prominent summer festivals. The event features a diverse program that blends culture, arts, and heritage, catering to all age groups.

The festival opens with a performance titled “Samari with Al-Amari” on the stage of the Drama Theater at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center in Salmiya. The evening is hosted by artist Salman Al-Amari, in collaboration with Al-Mass Folk Arts Troupe, celebrating Kuwait’s musical heritage and reviving the traditional Samari art form and authentic folk genres.

The 18th edition boasts a varied program including musical and vocal concerts, theatrical performances, cultural and literary evenings, and artistic and creative workshops. It also offers specialized programs for children, teenagers, and families, featuring traditional theatrical shows and educational, interactive activities designed to introduce new generations to Kuwaiti heritage, while supporting talent development and nurturing creative skills.

The festival underscores the National Council’s commitment to revitalizing cultural activity during the summer season, transforming the holiday period into a space that combines knowledge, creativity, and entertainment. This initiative aims to strengthen the presence of culture in society and establish the festival as an annual platform celebrating Kuwaiti creativity across various fields.
