Defenders of the Homeland: An Eye That Watches in the Cause of God

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, who has bestowed upon us the blessing of security and safety in our beloved homeland, Kuwait. Then, thanks and appreciation to everyone who, by the will of Allah, contributed to preserving this security.

There are men we do not see at all times, yet we feel the impact of their presence in every moment. Men who “stay awake night and day,” in cold and heat, on the borders, in the streets, and in centers and hospitals, so that we may sleep peacefully in our homes. They are the “protectors of the homeland”... the shield and support of Kuwait.

Men of the “Armed Forces” stationed at the frontiers. Men of the “National Guard” vigilant in protecting facilities. Men of the “Ministry of Interior” whose patrols never cease in maintaining order. Men of the “Fire Department” who rush into the flames to save lives. And men of “Health” who stand by in emergency rooms to treat patients and the injured.

Alongside them are hundreds of workers in related agencies, who serve “silently and faithfully,” seeking no reward or thanks except from Allah, the Exalted.

Our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned this great merit, saying: “Two eyes will not be touched by the Fire: an eye that wept out of fear of Allah, and an eye that stayed awake guarding in the cause of Allah.” So good tidings to them with this promise, and may Allah reward them, and Kuwait, with the finest recompense.

We can only say: “Thank you to the Government” for its support and for providing all necessary resources. “Thank you to the men of Defense, Interior, National Guard, Fire Department, and Health,” and to all who have taken upon themselves the trust of protecting this homeland.

This is not unusual for the people of Kuwait. Kuwait is a land of giving, and its people are people of loyalty. Our history testifies that when a Kuwaiti shoulders a trust, he fulfills it to the fullest, sacrificing the precious and the dear for the soil of this homeland.

We ask Allah, the Almighty, to protect Kuwait, its Amir, and its people; to place the sleepless nights and efforts of our protectors in the scale of their good deeds; and to return them safely to their families, victorious. May Allah have mercy on our righteous martyrs, who watered the land of Kuwait with their blood.
