Kuwait SC signs Maou and Jay, with Ozkan as coach

Kuwait officials: Al-Khaitan Club’s board of directors has simultaneously signed a number of local and foreign players in a move aimed at boosting the first team’s chances of competing in the upcoming season, which kicks off on August 25.

The recent signings cover several different positions, including Nigerian defender Shima, Senegalese striker Ibrahima Gaye, midfielder Abdullah Mawi, Talal Al-Ansari, forward Ali Wali, goalkeeper Abdulridha Abdulmajid, and four defenders: Khaled Al-Otaibi, Ahmed Abdulrahman, Fawaz Al-Mutairi, and Turki Al-Shammari.

Al-Khaitan also announced the signing of Turkish coach Cenk Ozkan to lead the team in the 2026-2027 football season. Ozkan has previously managed several Turkish clubs, most notably Antalyaspor, Sivasspor, Besiktas, and Omurani Spor. He won the Turkish Super Lig title in 2020 and the Turkish Super Cup in 2022. He also managed the first team of Burqan Club in the past two seasons.

Al-Khaitan needs a “football miracle” to secure one of the two promotion spots to the Premier League, as they currently sit fifth in the First Division with 17 points. The league resumed late yesterday evening and will continue until August 20.

Meanwhile, Al-Sahel Club’s first team has regained midfielder Ahmed Ghazi, who moved between several clubs in previous seasons. The board of directors also signed Ahmed Al-Otaibi to strengthen the “Sons of Abu Halifa” in the First Division, under the leadership of national coach Ali Abdulridha.
