Recent study: Daily use of electronic devices may leave physical effects that can be mitigated

A report published by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) highlighted a range of physical effects associated with prolonged use of electronic devices, drawing on expert opinions and recent scientific studies. The report clarified that these effects are not limited to psychological aspects but may extend to the neck, spine, eyes, skin, motor skills, and physical fitness, emphasizing that many of them can be mitigated through simple changes in daily habits.

The report noted that repeatedly bending the neck to use mobile phones may increase pressure on the neck and affect spinal posture over time, while there is no strong scientific evidence proving that such use causes neck wrinkles, despite theoretical hypotheses suggesting a link. It also pointed out that wearing smartwatches for extended periods without allowing the skin to breathe may cause irritation in some individuals.

Regarding vision, studies have shown that spending more time outdoors may help reduce the risk of myopia more effectively than simply reducing screen time. The report also underscored the importance of physical activity and manual tasks in maintaining muscle strength and motor skills, particularly among children and young people, recommending regular breaks, raising screens to eye level, and engaging in exercise to minimize the potential adverse effects of prolonged technology use.
