Foreign Minister stresses to his Dutch counterpart the necessity of halting Israeli violations in the West Bank

Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Egyptians Abroad, met with Tom Brandtjes, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting held in Manila, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and consult on regional developments.
During the meeting, Abdelatty welcomed the notable progress witnessed in the relations between the two countries in recent periods, which was reflected in the communications and reciprocal visits between both sides. He expressed his aspiration to continue strengthening bilateral relations across various fields, emphasizing the importance of leveraging the promising opportunities available to boost economic ties in different sectors and enhance Dutch investments in Egypt, particularly in new economic zones, major national projects, port development, infrastructure, digitalization, artificial intelligence, as well as in the field of green hydrogen.
He also expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation on various files of mutual interest, foremost among them the migration file and water management, while praising the Netherlands’ support for Egypt within various European Union institutions.
The two ministers discussed a number of regional files, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue. Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of completing the implementation of the first-phase commitments of the American president’s plan, ensuring full access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without obstacles, accelerating the start of work by the committee responsible for managing the Strip, and rapidly deploying an international stabilization force. He also called for an end to Israeli violations in the West Bank, which would contribute to containing escalation and creating an environment conducive to restoring security and stability in the region.
Regarding the rapid developments in the region, Abdelatty emphasized the necessity of de-escalation, prioritizing the diplomatic track, the language of dialogue, and commitment to the memorandum of understanding signed between the American and Iranian sides, and resuming negotiations to reach a final agreement between the two parties.
He briefed his Dutch counterpart on Egypt’s strenuous efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, highlighting the importance of coordinating international efforts in this regard, taking into account the severe economic, security, and geostrategic repercussions resulting from the war on the region and the world as a whole.
