Haikal met with the EU Ambassador to discuss ways to support the Lebanese Army

Army Commander Major General Rudolf Heikel met with European Union Ambassador Sandra van der Wal, accompanied by the military advisor to the EU mission in Lebanon, Colonel Jean Zmelika, to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as ways to support the army.

During the reception, Heikel welcomed Ambassador van der Wal, who praised “the army’s efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s stability and security,” and affirmed “the European Union’s continued support for the military institution.”

For his part, Heikel expressed “his appreciation for the EU’s ongoing initiatives to support the army amid existing challenges.”
