Syrian Ministry of Interior Graduates New Batches of Diplomatic Security, Airport Security, and Border Crossings Personnel

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the graduation of new cohorts of specialists in diplomatic security, airport security, and border crossings, under the patronage of Interior Minister Anas al-Khattab. In a statement shared via its official social media accounts, the ministry noted that these cohorts represent a reinforcement of the security establishment with qualified personnel equipped with the readiness and professionalism to safeguard sovereign missions and perform their duties efficiently and competently.

In parallel, the ministry released a video outlining the principles and rules of the code of conduct to which all its personnel are bound, “to ensure the rule of law and uphold the dignity of citizens.” In an introductory video, the ministry clarified that the code of conduct serves as a binding charter for every member, grounded in a service ethos and ethical commitment, emphasizing that public service is an honor and privilege that demands strict adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

The ministry stressed that human dignity and rights are inviolable, prohibiting torture or degrading treatment of detainees. It noted that behavioral assessments and career promotions are primarily based on compliance with these principles. Under the code, the ministry emphasized the necessity of treating citizens with respect, responding to distress calls with complete neutrality and equality, banning the wearing of face coverings during duty, and prohibiting any alterations to the approved uniform.

The code further affirmed that employees are responsible for promptly reporting any violations or breaches affecting human rights. The ministry concluded the video by reiterating that these rules are mandatory and that non-compliance entails legal accountability.
