Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirms support for efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband during his visit to Doha.
According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the meeting reviewed the cooperative relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them, and discussed recent regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts and joint coordination to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region. The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement the agreements reached under the understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, to safeguard regional security, preserve achieved gains, and bolster regional stability. He reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for all efforts aimed at defusing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that ensures lasting peace in the region.
