Officials from the General Administration of Customs at the Nuweiba border crossing, thanks to their vigilance and field efforts in customs inspection and monitoring, foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of cigarettes out of the country.
The seizure followed a thorough customs inspection of one vehicle, which revealed 43 cartons and 8 packs of cigarettes tightly concealed inside the fuel tank and the gear shift console, in compartments specially prepared to hide the contraband, confirming that the vehicle had been prepared for smuggling purposes. Necessary legal measures have been taken, and a seizure report is being prepared. The suspect and the seized items have been referred to the General Administration of Criminal Investigation to complete the required legal procedures.
