The German Football Association (DFB) announced on Friday the appointment of former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp as the new head coach of the German national team.
Earlier this month, DFB officials traveled to New York to hold talks with Klopp, who serves as global head of football at Red Bull and also worked as an analyst for the German network Magenta TV throughout the World Cup in North America. Bernd Nöndorf, president of the German Football Association, said at a press conference in Frankfurt: “We are very pleased to be able to present Jürgen Klopp as our new coach today.”
Klopp replaces Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned as Germany’s head coach on July 3 following the national team’s early exit from the World Cup in the Round of 32 after losing to Paraguay on penalties.
