CENTCOM announces completion of latest wave of strikes against Iranian military targets: Commercial vessels continue to sail freely through the Strait of Hormuz with support from the US military

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of a new wave of strikes against Iran, marking the thirteenth consecutive night of operations.

In a post on its official X account, CENTCOM stated: “The U.S. Central Command targeted Iranian military command centers, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites, and naval capabilities, with the aim of further reducing the threat Iran poses to civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.”

It added: “The international waterway remains open to navigation despite recent attacks launched by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard; commercial ships continue to sail freely through the strait with support from the U.S. military.”

Previously, CENTCOM announced on X that it had launched a new round of strikes against Iranian military targets, aiming “to hold Iran accountable and reduce the threats posed by the Revolutionary Guard to ships and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Separately, U.S. Central Command announced that it had rerouted 12 commercial vessels and disrupted another since the resumption of the blockade on Iranian ports.

In a separate statement on X, CENTCOM said: “Since the resumption of the naval blockade on Iran on July 14, the U.S. Central Command has rerouted 12 commercial vessels and disrupted one vessel.”

It clarified that these measures were taken “to prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports or coastal areas.”
