Syrian authorities thwart attempts to smuggle marijuana and Captagon from Lebanon

Syrian authorities announced the thwarting of several drug-smuggling attempts from Lebanon. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that units of the Syrian Arab Army’s Border Guard forces recently disrupted multiple attempts to smuggle narcotics from Lebanese territory into Syria in the countryside of Homs and Damascus. The Media and Communications Department of the Ministry of Defense stated that the operations resulted in the seizure of more than 40 kilograms of hashish, in addition to over 700,000 Captagon pills. It was clarified that the seized items were transferred to the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures. Earlier this month, the Drug Control Administration, in coordination with the Internal Security Command in the Damascus countryside, also foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics from Lebanese territory toward the Nabak farms, following precise security surveillance and monitoring.
