Sisi and Italian Prime Minister Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional and International Issues: Continuing Efforts to Avoid Escalation and Resolve Conflicts Peacefully

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In a statement on Thursday, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed Shalnawi said that President el-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the “historic” ties between Egypt and Italy, emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen the close bonds between the two countries, particularly in trade and investment, to serve their shared interests.

In this context, el-Sisi pointed to the “necessity to intensify” Italian investments in the Egyptian market, given the “promising opportunities” it offers.

The presidential spokesperson added that the Italian Prime Minister, for her part, expressed her agreement with President el-Sisi’s remarks on the importance of developing the “distinctive” relations between the two countries across all fields, including trade and investment, as well as coordination in confronting the phenomenon of illegal immigration.

He further noted that the call also covered various regional and international issues, with both sides reaffirming the need to continue striving to avoid escalation and resolve conflicts through peaceful means.

According to the spokesperson, the two sides agreed to continue working to enhance bilateral relations and intensify political consultation and coordination between Egypt and Italy, contributing to regional peace and stability.
