As competition intensifies for leadership in the Islamic debt markets, Bitex Capital, the investment arm of Kuwait Finance House (KFH), is firmly establishing itself as one of the sector’s key players. During the first half of 2026, the firm structured, managed, and issued sukuk with a total value exceeding $15 billion for governments, corporations, and major institutions, with broad participation from top-tier investors at local, regional, and global levels.
Mohammed Hamad Al-Hajri, Head of Investment Banking Services at Bitex Capital, stated that this performance is a true reflection of the company’s rising stature in regional and international capital markets, and its ability to deliver innovative, Sharia-compliant financing and investment solutions that meet issuers’ aspirations and attract a wide range of investors worldwide. He added that the company’s success in these prominent issuances is measured not only by deal size but also by execution efficiency, the breadth of its investor base, and the growing trust it enjoys among both issuers and investors, thereby strengthening its position in the regional and global sukuk and debt instrument markets.
Al-Hajri noted that these results have placed KFH Group at the forefront of organizers at the local level, and ranked fifth globally among the top sukuk arrangers worldwide. This achievement is the fruit of deep expertise accumulated over the years and a specialized team that combines execution efficiency with a profound understanding of complex deal structuring, thereby reinforcing the confidence of issuers and investors and underscoring the company’s pivotal role in developing the Sharia-compliant debt instrument market.
For his part, Khaled Khalil Al-Shami, First Vice President of Capital Markets for Debt Instruments at Bitex Capital, highlighted that what distinguishes the firm’s deals since the beginning of the year is their remarkable diversity geographically, across maturity tenors, and across multiple sectors. The transactions extended to local, regional, and international issuances for governments, banks, and companies in the energy, utilities, mining, real estate, and healthcare sectors.
Regarding sovereign issuances, the company completed the issuance of sukuk for the Republic of Turkey valued at $2.75 billion with a six-year tenor, one of the largest deals of the year, alongside an issuance for Turkish Petroleum valued at $1 billion with a five-year tenor. The banking sector also saw a significant presence, as Bitex Capital contributed to the issuance of KFH sukuk with a five-year tenor valued at $1 billion, in addition to the first local dinar-denominated sukuk for the first tier of capital for KFH, valued at 200 million Kuwaiti dinars. The firm also assisted in structuring sukuk issuances for First Abu Dhabi Bank valued at $650 million, Dubai Islamic Bank’s first-tier sukuk valued at $1 billion, and Qatar Islamic Bank’s issuance with a five-year tenor valued at $750 million.
Saudi companies were not far behind this momentum. Bitex Capital participated in two issuances for Saudi Telecom Company (stc) with a combined value of $2 billion across two tranches with five- and ten-year tenors, alongside three tranches for Saudi Electricity Company with varying tenors, totaling over $2.4 billion, as well as an issuance for Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) valued at $1 billion with a tenor of 10 years. In the Sultanate of Oman, the company contributed to an issuance for Oman Energy Development valued at $650 million with a tenor of 10 years.
Bitex Capital’s presence also extended to the Arab Energy Fund, where the firm participated in two separate issuances with a combined value of $1 billion, alongside an issuance for Turkish real estate company Emlak Konut valued at $650 million. In the UAE, the first sukuk issuance for Burj Holdings, a leader in the healthcare sector, valued at $500 million, marked a notable addition to the company’s track record, reflecting the expansion of the sectors it serves.
Al-Shami added that this momentum of high-quality deals, characterized by their geographic and sectoral diversity, multiple tranches, and varying tenors, clearly demonstrates Bitex Capital’s ability to execute complex issuances and attract the confidence of major investors, a trajectory that solidifies its presence as a key player in the global sukuk markets.
