Saudi Arabia and the US sign cooperation agreement on peaceful uses of nuclear energy

The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the United States of America signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy between the two countries, within the framework of the strategic partnership uniting the two friendly nations.

The official Saudi News Agency (SPA) stated in a press release that this step follows the announcement made during the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the United States in November last year, regarding the completion of negotiations on cooperation between the two countries in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and advanced technologies.

SPA clarified that the agreement was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, with U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and to support the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and technologies, thereby contributing to the development of joint cooperation in accordance with the highest international standards related to nuclear safety and security and nuclear non-proliferation. It also reflects the shared vision of the two countries to expand cooperation in the fields of energy and future technologies and to support sustainable development.

The agreement represents an extension of the existing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, and supports efforts aimed at diversifying energy sources, developing advanced technologies, and enhancing opportunities for cooperation and investment to achieve the common interests of the two friendly nations.
