Kuwait welcomes Dutch and Belgian decisions banning imports of Israeli settlement products
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s welcome of the decisions by the friendly Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Belgium to ban the import of Israeli settlement products, describing them as an important step that aligns with relevant international legal resolutions, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016 and the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice issued on July 19, 2024, regarding the illegality of settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry commended the positions of the Dutch and Belgian governments, which are consistent with the provisions of international law, emphasizing the necessity for the international community and the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities in confronting the Israeli occupation’s settlement policy, which undermines the prospects for achieving peace.
The Ministry reaffirmed the State of Kuwait’s firm and supportive stance toward the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is the establishment of their independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
