Ministers of Transport and Civil Aviation Witness Signing of Protocol to Enhance Efficiency of Main Avenues and Internal Roads at Airports

In the context of cooperation and integration among Egyptian government ministries to maximize the utilization of state assets, thereby achieving the targets of sustainable development and Egypt Vision 2030, Major General Kamal al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, and Dr. Samah al-Hanafi, Minister of Civil Aviation, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Transport, represented by the Egyptian Company for Construction and Maintenance of Transport Facilities and Airports, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, represented by the Egyptian Airports Company. The agreement pertains to the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and maintaining main and service runways, as well as internal airport roads.

Both parties emphasized that the memorandum aligns with the role played by the Egyptian Airports Company in managing, operating, and developing its affiliated airports, and executing continuous modernization plans to elevate the level of services provided to passengers and improve the efficiency of infrastructure and facilities in accordance with the latest international standards.

The Minister stated that, in line with the state’s direction to maximize the potential and expertise of national companies by fostering constructive cooperation among state institutions across various fields for the benefit of the nation, this agreement strengthens integration between the Ministries of Transport and Civil Aviation. This collaboration supports the implementation of airport infrastructure development projects in Egypt according to the latest technical and engineering standards.

He affirmed that the objective of the memorandum is to leverage the technical and engineering expertise and capabilities of the Egyptian Company for Construction and Maintenance of Transport Facilities and Airports in executing projects to enhance the efficiency and maintain main and service runways, as well as internal airport roads. Additionally, it covers the maintenance and development of parking aprons and service areas using environmentally friendly recycling technologies, and the development of facilities and infrastructure to contribute to improving the level of services provided to passengers and enhancing operational efficiency. This builds upon the company’s track record in upgrading the efficiency of several airports across the country, including Sharm El-Sheikh, Aswan, Luxor, Marsa Matruh, Alamein, and Sohag airports.

The Minister of Transport added that the memorandum includes the utilization of the latest asphalt recycling technologies to achieve optimal resource use, reduce implementation costs, and shorten project completion times. This supports the state’s direction toward implementing sustainable solutions and environmentally friendly projects, consistent with Egypt’s vision for sustainable development.

He clarified that the memorandum represents an important step toward unifying efforts and leveraging national expertise to execute development projects with high efficiency and quality. This will enhance the status of Egyptian airports, elevate the level of services provided to citizens and visitors, and align with the state’s plans to develop the transport, logistics, and civil aviation systems.
